for all the wonderfully subtle shell-breaking he did on his full-length, mark e falls back on old, slow habits for his new single, >the day<. and welcomely, we might add. pitching things down to a basement lounge floor crawl, the midlands dj/producer wraps his always chugging kicks and snares in serpentine synth-bass, jazzy, tripleted hi-hats, and moaning, wordless soul vocals. its grasp is tantric—hinting coyly at ecstatic release, but never fully delivering. for the vinyl junkies that bought stone breaker and missed out on it the first time around (it was absent from that version), this release should be a no brainer. but >the day< isnt carrying all the weight here. a new track called >special fx< will have sample hounds—particularly those with a thing for classic electro-pop—salivating. and the oft imitated, never replicated prins thomas shows up on the flip for a (naturally) eleven- minute revamp of >the day<, livening up the bass and drum patterns, adding in strings, piano, guitar, organ, and ending up with something that totally could have emanated from a camaro at some point in the early seventies. (albeit, one owned by someone with interest in eleven-minute instrumentals.) it even has a fade out!

>i can see< by the oliverwho factory is the second release of german label couldnt care more (following stareaways - learn how to love me) and its just marvellous: the duo from detroit, who by the way runs the stunning label madd chaise inc. and recently released >galactic transit< on rush hour and >night lights< on planet e, delivers finest detroit tech deep house with a twist, that will make you wave your arms and scream on the dancefloor. while the basic track is voluminously wafting and rawly pushing forward vocalist shone tops it with her power- and soulful singing. both tracks are mastered straight to the point by a.o.s.. classic.

bang the boxs second vinyl outing is a loved up three tracker from label resident and co-manager brett johnson... lovin u- the birds chirping in the intro let it be known that this is one for the summer time. vocal harmonies laid over true house beats and a full-on bassline seal the deal for this one to be a future classic... sweet love- continuing the theme, sweet love rolls down memory lane with a catchy vocal, and bretts signature robo-funk rhythms. the rolling bass line and spaced out chords bring it all together to seal the deal as a dance floor killer... love by my side- this track is last but definitely not the least. its one for all our slow house peeps put there willing to let the slow-burn take the dance floor in its clutches. the recycling main line is so infectious that you wont want the track to ever end…
